ljg-teach

"Teaches concepts, principles, or tests perspectives through experience rather than definitions: first presents a scenario matched to the learner's cognitive level, prompts a choice, reveals cognitive gaps through a fair surprise, structures the insight before naming it, and repeatedly retests with transfer scenarios in a loop. USE WHEN the user invokes '/ljg-teach', says 'teach me through scenarios', 'don't tell me the answer first', 'help me learn through cases', or wants to understand a concept or viewpoint through choices and feedback. NOT FOR direct definition lookups (use ljg-is/ljg-word), eight-dimensional concept dissection (use ljg-learn), or companion reading (use ljg-read)."

1How It Works & Mechanism

The core is an experience-first six-step learning loop: Scenario → Choice → Surprise → Structure → Naming → Transfer Scenario.

skills/ljg-teach/SKILL.md
What is happening here: Standardizing instruction into a repeatable loop of 'experience first, name later'.

Workflow Routing routes the next step based on the learner's state; when introducing a new concept, enter 'Scenario' first, strictly forbidding explaining or naming the target concept.

skills/ljg-teach/SKILL.md
What is happening here: Replacing linear scripts with a state table to ensure every step aligns with current cognition.

Scenario design requirements: The learner has a role, goal, constraints that genuinely affect choices, and sufficient information; the target concept's name/definition/terminology or answer outlines must not appear in the first round.

skills/ljg-teach/SKILL.md
What is happening here: Creating a leak-free cognitive scenario so that choices reflect genuine mental models.

Ask only one decisive trade-off judgment, permit answers outside given options and 'insufficient information', conclude with 'What would you choose? State your reason in one sentence' and stop to wait for the answer.

skills/ljg-teach/SKILL.md
What is happening here: Drawing out the cognitive model without forcing a false dichotomy.

Surprises must be fair: do not penalize insufficient information by hiding facts, do not use brain teasers or rare exceptions to disguise gaps, and do not fabricate failures.

skills/ljg-teach/SKILL.md
What is happening here: Ensuring what is exposed is the boundary of the mental model rather than a questioner's trap.

In the structuring phase, mirror the learner's old model first without prematurely injecting theory; explicitly mark speculations when evidence is insufficient.

skills/ljg-teach/SKILL.md
What is happening here: Allowing the learner's cognitive structure to be recognized and acknowledged before naming.

Naming must strictly occur after choice, surprise, and structuring; introduce only one concept per round that most effectively compresses the surprise.

skills/ljg-teach/SKILL.md
What is happening here: Placing 'naming' strictly after experience to avoid devolving into example-based textbook teaching.

Transfer scenario: Present a new scenario that is superficially different but structurally identical without hinting at applying the concept; correct answers with rationales still rooted in the old model do not count as mastery.

skills/ljg-teach/SKILL.md
What is happening here: Testing whether true transfer has occurred through retesting with unfamiliar surfaces.

Interaction pacing: Advance only one cognitive breakpoint at a time, include only one load-bearing question per message, and strictly wait for the learner's response between choice and surprise.

skills/ljg-teach/SKILL.md
What is happening here: Using pacing discipline to ensure the experience is not overwhelmed by exposition.

Emphasize not turning viewpoint instruction into ideological conditioning: for value disagreements, only highlight costs, constraints, and predictive differences, preserving the learner's right to prioritize their own values.

skills/ljg-teach/SKILL.md
What is happening here: Drawing a red line of value neutrality to prevent instruction from becoming persuasion.

2Core Capabilities

01Experience-loop teaching (Scenario → Choice → Surprise → Structure → Naming → Transfer)
02Next-step routing based on learner state (Workflow Routing)
03Fair surprise design (no penalizing insufficient information, no fabricated failures)
04Cognitive structure mirroring and delayed naming
05Mastery retesting via transfer scenario loops
06Viewpoint testing: distinguishing factual judgments, value weightings, and constraints
07Learner control: change scenario / give hint / reveal / continue / stop

Evidence & Triggers (File Paths & Excerpts)
  • SKILL.md: Pure prompt instructions and rule text, without script execution or external impacts
Audit Notes: Green, pure prompt instructions. No script execution, no outbound network requests, no credential reading, and no local file writing (default does not write files). Note: The NOT FOR section in the description mentions peer skills ljg-is/ljg-word/ljg-learn/ljg-read for task division; these are mentioned third-party skills, noted here only, and do not affect the tier of this skill itself.

6Verdict & Scenarios

  • Strict chronological discipline in pedagogy: experience first, naming later, eliminating the pseudo-learning of 'explaining definitions first then fitting cases'.
  • Fair surprise design distinguishes 'exposing cognitive gaps' from 'manufacturing failure', protecting learner experience.
  • Retests mastery through transfer scenario loops, validating underlying reasoning rather than surface answers.
  • Best for: Ideal for deep learning scenarios where users truly understand a concept, principle, or viewpoint through choices and feedback, or test an existing judgment—such as requests like 'teach me through scenarios' or 'don't tell me the answer first'.
Not for: Not suitable for direct definition lookups, eight-dimensional concept dissection, or companion reading; also not suitable for users who merely want quick conclusions without multi-turn interaction.
